Mrs. McNaughton

The art that I create rarely stays still for too long, much like our species, my work is constantly growing and evolving, and I am inspired by those changes. Primarily trained as a photographer, my roots are in preserving moments in time, an instant that is fleeting and is gone before we open our eyes from one second to another. I make art to capture moments; moments in time, moments in my life, moments that without effort or pause will pass us by. I focus on the here and now, wherever that might be. My body of is my autobiography, when I look back on art that I have made, I am transformed into the person I was when I made that piece. If only to me, my art tells the story of my life.

In addition to preserving moments in time, I also focus on preserving items. My work will often be made from discarded objects; a chair on the side the road, an old photograph rescued from the trash, even my own old artwork from time to time.

As a body of work, my art tends to change, I respond to feelings that are current in my life at that time, and I use materials that reflect that moment. My body of work consists of materials that range from photography, watercolor, wood, natural materials and even cement.
